Policies, Rules and Regulations

IT systems are subject to university, federal, and state policies, rules, and regulations for their use. University-specific Rules and Regulations for Employee IT Use outline the appropriate use of computer resources on campus, file sharing options, and sharing of FERPA, HIPAA, and GLBA data. Laws protect the privacy of students and employees, including personal information, health documentation and financial data.  Find out more at Policies, Rules and Regulations and ask your supervisor how this affects you in your role. checklist-on-clipboard

Remember:

  • It is your responsibility to understand policies, rules and regulations that apply to you.
  • Check with your supervisor to see if you will be handling sensitive data.
  • University officials have the right to access information stored on IT resources provided by the university, such as your NC State Google account, if necessary.

University email is considered public record and is archived and retained with Google Vault for seven years, even if deleted.
